Welcome to Amandaland!!

Random thought…

Okay alcohol and cigarettes are legal after a certain age…a lot of drugs are illegal (i.e. the non-medical ones)…and these things can kill the person who uses them…but that is their choice. Yet, cancer kills  577,190 americans (estimated deaths for 2012 from www.cancer.org) a year, and in most cases people have not done things (like smoking which can cause lung cancer) to cause their cancer. But, the President’s Fiscal Year 2013 Budget proposes cutting Cancer research funding!?! So…they’ll have laws in place to keep people from doing ‘dangerous life-threatening’ things, which should be their choice, but they take away funds to help people survive Cancer…this makes absolutely no sense to me. If the laws are in place to help us and try to keep people healthy, then why are funds being taken away when the research can help so many people? I just don’t understand the government.
